ah yeah you’re right next time I’ll just invite the prime suspect in an attempted murder to tea maybe give him a bunch of advance info so he can work out a cover story and maybe draw a dotted line on my neck so he knows right where to stick the knife
anyway where did I even say I went in guns blazing? but even if I did can you blame me? or blame me for wanting to have backup? am I the only one who remembers he may have stabbed a guy and then beat him half to death when the Agrii stepped in?
oh my god you went from intelligent to insufferable in a snap

fuck you i'm gonna go look over the scene myself or maybe i should let you do it maybe the killer will show up knock something vital in your head back into place
Hey, tell me about this tablet thing? Away from the eyes of the hand-wringy doctor who wouldn't know investigative work if it lured her down a dark alley.
[Leo would be really happy that someone had finally listened about this… if the tablet thing couldn’t now be used to implicate his brother.
But Donnie has mentioned working with Shaw before, and Leo has talked to her a bit too, so… it’s probably okay to share at least some info with her.]
Hah! There aren’t very many detectives here, huh?
After Richie got all sliced and smashed, Donnie helped me write some code to figure out who sent the call to Richie’s phone. Turns out it was that Eddie Munson guy. But he wasn’t interested in talking to us…
[And Leo can’t imagine why!]
I dunno if he actually did it. His tablet could have been stolen, or he could have given it to someone. But it’s a lead, right?
We looked into that, but unless you’re staring right at the roster when it changes there’s not any real way to tell. The log just says the roster changed, no details.
Yeah, turns out those two assigned to the Peanut Party so that's Shaw's suggestion to check, except we're assigned to the other ship. Soooo if you could do us a solid...and a shortcut to the hangar wouldn't hurt either, really.
he didn't do anything worth getting mad about. neither did you. I don't know what's up with these assholes. I don't know if they actually believe that we were threatening to kill Macher, or if they just have really whacked out priorities. but you guys didn't do anything wrong.
what does predetermined mean? like were we stuck doing it? uhhh I mean I think we had to fight the evil demon armor EVENTUALLY there was a prophecy or something?? but it probably could have gone either way were just awesome
that's some pretty heavy stuff. i'm a fan of fighting life's monsters head-on too, but it's the kind of thing that's better when you actually have a choice. being a soldier like that because of some prophecy? even if they're choices you would have made anyway, it sucks.

kinda funny I guess since me and my brothers were created to destroy humanity but we did the opposite lol
[...Well, this is kind of an ominous text to receive. At least he's pretty sure Keith is not one of the psycho killers whose lives he recently publicly threatened.]
well I cant leave the ship so im definitely "around"
[Keith had been staying away from people, too, and that meant going back to the Peanut Party when he was allowed to and wasn't hiding in the room the Agrii gave him.]
[Okay, so Keith probably took a bit longer than he normally would, but give him a break. He was having issues walking thanks to the crutches, though he was putting weight on his injured leg now.]
[Oh shoot, he didn't know the guy ended up needing crutches. He feels a little bad for making him walk now. He could have gone to Keith, or used a portal...
[It wasn't like Keith was broadcasting it out to everyone and making a big public show of his situation. There were still probably a number of people who hadn't noticed due to Keith's efforts to lay low.
Partially, he didn't want the people who set the trap to know he was this roughed up. That said, though, he shook his head in a typical attempt to wave it off.]
I'm okay. [It was a quick response.] Just a sprain I need to stay off of for a bit.
Mainly I just wanted to say thanks again... for getting me out of there.
[It was the first time in a while that Keith had felt truly trapped. Usually, he was good at getting himself out, or he knew everyone around him to know that he'd be okay. But he was alone, in a way, for the first time since getting pulled from his world almost eight years ago... no one else from his own world was around anymore... and that was kind of scary. Even when he'd first arrived, there had already been someone else in the Fleet... Shiro. And Keith was feeling it.]
Though he's taken off guard by the thanks. He's not used to people thanking him for things, and he definitely isn't used to people calling him out specifically to say thank you. Usually when people want him to come for a talk, they're mad about him about something.
Leo blinks for a moment, then smiles a little bashfully and rubs the back of his neck.]
Ah, well, you know... hero stuff. No need to thank me. [He waves it off, even though he's very pleased by it.] I'm just glad Donnie was able to get a call in to me.
Heh... [Keith managed a small chuckle. He actually knew the feeling when it came to 'hero stuff'.] Yeah. Me, too. [He looked a bit sheepish himself at that point.] Now I know not to give Kosmo a day off of patrols.
[Speaking of...]
That was actually a pretty awesome maneuver. Is that a special power or something? [AKA: the teleporting thing.]
[Sounded like some other blue-coded hero-type that Keith knew...]
It's a handy thing to have. [Keith nodded.] My wolf can teleport like that, too. Though, without the lightning. His power manifests in a flash of light.
[But, having heard Donnie explain part of it and now Leo, Keith felt like this ninpō shared some traits with quintessence. Not identical, for sure, but he kind of felt like it had some similar qualities.]
Oh yeeeaaah, the space wolf! [Leo remembers Keith telling him about this awhile back.] That's pretty cool. We'll have to have some kind of teleporting race sometime.
Either way, I'm glad you're alright... and I appreciate the help. It uh... It was definitely... A Thing.
[Keith didn't talk about his dad often, but considering he'd just been stuck in a situation very similar to the way his got killed on the job? It hit a nerve.]
Hopefully, this is the end of it, but... [Well, Keith wasn't convinced they'll stop. Stuff seemed to be escalating more and more, and he had a bad feeling that they weren't going to stop until someone actually died.] Yeah. I don't think it is.
There's gotta be definite proof on who did it, though... and then we have to figure out what to do with them. Locking them up indefinitely will only create a situation where they're a burden on the rest of us... taking resources, but not contributing.
[And Keith didn't like that idea. Sure, they'd be locked up, but they'd be getting a free ride at everyone else's expense and work. It hardly seemed fair.
Keith was a little bit surprised that Leo said that, but... at the same time, he had this weird feeling it wasn't entirely true and just more bravado, to some extent. He was used to people doing that at times, and had seen it before.]
I guess... [He took a breath.] I don't have anyone I'm connected to on that level here anymore, but I still don't want to see anyone else get hurt. And, with how this place works, who knows? Someone from home might just show up again anyway.
[Honestly, he was still at the 'hoping Lance came back' stage of his feelings on this... and he definitely didn't want to see these guys still being dangerous if Lance did come back.
He straightened up from where he was leaning against the wall, though, visibly preparing to move on at this point. It took a bit to get moving still as he had to get his balance on the crutches.]
Just... take care, yeah? Don't antagonize them too much. We just need to be ready for when they make a mistake and can be connected to all this without any doubt.
[Keith hated the waiting, too, but he'd learned that, sometimes, it was a necessary step in accomplishing a goal.]
Ah yeah, because they're contributing soooo much now.
[Leo doesn't really care about that. He's not objecting to feeding those guys! He's just objecting to letting them do whatever they want.
And even if Keith is right about waiting for them to make a mistake, Leo still doesn't really feel satisfied with that. But he's had a hard enough time feeling believed, so he doesn't know what he could do or say that would change anyone's mind until they did finally get that proof.
Hopefully it would be soon.]
...Yeah. I guess. [He sighs.] You be careful, too.
[Oh... that sigh sounded familiar, as in it was one he used to use himself a lot. Keith smirked a little as something Shiro said once came back to him.]
My brother told me once that patience yields focus. I didn't get it then because patience was never one of my strong points, but... just... think about it. We'll get results. Some people just need more solid proof than others if we're going to get them to go along with it.
[But he nodded.]
Yeah. Thanks. I will. [Probably. Keith tended to be a risk taker... but he'd at least be more careful until he was healed up.
[It’s actually more like forty minutes, or however long the shuttle back to the Agrii ship takes, but he does make it there, waving a hand when he comes out of the shuttle and sees Donnie.]
[Donnie's been busying himself with having a look at the Huntress. He's never actually been aboard this shuttle and it's kind of nice to see how one of the originals might have looked before it got...personalized.]
Leo!
[He brightens as he turns away from the shuttle to wave back, jogging over.]
How're things going down below? Everyone playing nicely?
Oh good. They shouldn't anyway. I tried to cover every possible avenue when I was laying down ground rules for them.
[He sighs, one less thing to worry about at least.]
I figured that they'd need an early-warning system for any remnant storms, so the Agrii will have time to take cover. And since power just turns off whenever they come into range, a regular signal system won't work. But if we can use the robots Robotnik left and set up a perimeter outside of the city, then if the signals go out from an approaching storm, that'll serve as the warning, and it can be relayed from the ship to the other Agrii in Temba.
[Grinning, Donnie heads up the ramp and towards the cockpit. He'd hoped Leo would be excited about that. Gesturing to the pilot's seat, he plops into the one beside it.]
I doubt I can turn off the autopilot completely, but maybe I can get us semi-control so we can do stuff while we're locked onto a flight path at the very least.
Leo indeed looks excited, hopping into the chair and grinning like a kid in a candy store. Already he's gripping the controls and peering over all the buttons and dials.
(It's probably a very good thing that they can't turn off the autopilot.)]
Yes! Finally something cool to do on this stupid adventure!
[Leo raises his hand, but hovers over the button.]
You know, at a moment like this, historic as it is, I really feel that we should say a few words. A few words to really immortalize- oh who am I kidding, let's PUNCH IT!
[Donnie has his phone out, because hey, how often are they going to get a chance to at least look like they're taking control of an actual space ship? He grins, giving Leo a thumb's up, his brows flattening a moment as Leo seems to wax poetic for all of several seconds before jumping right into things.
He cackles gleefully as the engines power up, cockpit dimming as the takeoff sequence engages, and soon the shuttle rises, taking off for the open port and out into the starry expanse, with Agra Ten hanging there below.]
[Space is really beautiful; even having seen it from the Agrii ship, Leo hasn't gotten used to it. Even more so because this is such a unique way of seeing it, flying through space in a shuttle like they're on their way to a real adventure.
I figure just handle it like a video game. Not sure if up is down and down is up, like with those jet simulations? -and technically Venidelosia said one of us would need the piloting data point but I mean, how hard can it be to just steer a thing if we're on a set course?
Donnie grins, settling in his seat and looking confident enough in his brother's skills... or at least in the fact that the ship can't accidentally fly far off course somewhere.]
[Not that the shuttles are very fast, but at least they can make the most of it, this way.
Donnie quiets down a bit once they do actually get closer to the planet's surface.]
...you know, I don't think I've ever actually gotten to see us break through the atmosphere, going or coming.
[The ships they traveled on are so huge and distracting to be on in general. Getting a good view like this seems to be limited to whoever's flying. But it has to be different being in something that big versus the much smaller shuttles.]
[Leo quiets down too, looking out the window. All this time watching low budget space movies, but he's never seen anything like this. It's so cool, seeing it for real.]
I want to sit up at the front like this more often... Maybe I should get the pilot datapoint so no one can keep me out next time.
That shouldn't be like a normal problem, I think that was just a one guy problem.
...I'd be careful about the data point swaps- but then you haven't done it as much, I think. I found out from the AI how they work, though, and basically the way they work is parts of the brain are stimulated to hold the information uploads, and then rewritten with the information from a different data point since most brains can't simultaneously hold two types. ...which is apparently something Ny Ak tried, and it's kind of messed him up.
Anyway, consistent swapping eventually degrades the ability to store that information.
-but seriously, it's like... Well, you know with our ramp, when there was this one spot that just got so worn down, it just kept catching our skateboards until we had to fix it?
So the skateboard would be the information, and that section of the ramp, our brain, and for a while everything functions smoothly when one comes in contact with the other, until that happened. And while we could still power through, it's not the same because there's a bump, so it's not going to be perfect.
Probably good in the long-run. I've been trying to not swap back and forth anymore either. But...that just means I'll have to bother you to do codework.
[That's good, because there's things to look at now as they enter the atmosphere properly! Leo leans forward to look at Temba from far above, then tries to swing wide...
[Well, he supposes he isn't too surprised at that, although he was hoping for a little more freedom on their route. But maybe they're lucky to have even been able to do as much as they've found.]
Well...I imagine it should be quicker to Sh'Ka this way. And this thing isn't going at a leisurely pace like the shuttles we've been used to, sooo maybe twenty-thirty minutes?
[He...supposes it isn't all that bad. With nothing he can do in the meantime, he lets himself melt further into the seat with a sigh. This is probably the first actual break he's let himself have in a while, now that he thinks about it.]
[They really need to have a talk about work-life balance...
Unlike Donnie, Leo leans forward, still eager to watch as they fly high above the scenery of Agra-10. It's not as cool as being in space, but flying is still fun.]
[Maybe. It wasn't even engineering work he was doing! But dealing with people is incredibly draining, who knew.
He might accidentally nap with how quiet and peaceful it is, although while he's still awake he can't help but glance over to watch Leo for a bit, a weight easing from his chest as his brother looks like he's enjoying himself. It seems like it's been a long time in coming, and it leaves him with a faint smile on his face as he starts to doze.]
[Leo lets Donnie nap for now, entertaining himself by daydreaming that they’re on an adventure to an uncharted planet. Maybe Jupiter Jim is in his daydream and tells him what a credit he is to this unit! No one can say for sure.
Eventually, though, the shuttle prepares for landing, and he reaches over and gives Donnie a light shake.]
[Blinking awake, Donnie rubs at his eyes before he tries pushing himself to sit straighter in his seat. He doesn't bother to cover his mouth as he yawns and stretches. Where even is... Oh, right.]
[Donnie leans forward to have a look out the window as he tries to stifle another yawn.]
-cool. At least we won't have to actively hunt them all down unless anyone's suddenly had a malfunction. Otherwise, they should come back to the lab once we hit the recall button.
Once we land, you wanna take the scenic route there or your way?

i am THE tech guy
you'll understand when you see me
where'd you track the phone call?
i'll head that way

he was laying half out a building by the ampitheater
I can show you
tony’s level isn’t that high
but uh ok
we tracked it to a guy

yeeeeeaaaaaah but
he was not cooperative
[Through no fault of Leo’s own!]
no subject
what? how did you guys do the interrogation?
did you even have any evidence for it?
no subject
we just went and asked him some questions but he did NOT wanna talk
uhhhhhh
literally just told you HIS TABLET made the call
so either he did it or someone stole it
or he lent it to someone
either way he def has info he isnt sharing with us
because were “kids” or whatever
no subject
that’s bigger than I can handle
I know! I’m just trying to figure out what happened when you talked to him
jfc
maybe you should’ve gone to him with one of his friends
maybe he felt attacked so having someone else with him might’ve helped maybe
no subject
ah yeah you’re right
next time I’ll just invite the prime suspect in an attempted murder to tea
maybe give him a bunch of advance info so he can work out a cover story
and maybe draw a dotted line on my neck so he knows right where to stick the knife
no subject
would you be willing to work with people if they came in guns blazing and you felt ganged up on?
doubt it
don’t be stupid
cover story or not, it won’t cover facts as we get them
no subject
anyway where did I even say I went in guns blazing?
but even if I did can you blame me? or blame me for wanting to have backup?
am I the only one who remembers he may have stabbed a guy and then beat him half to death when the Agrii stepped in?
no subject
you went from intelligent
to insufferable in a snap
you know what

Then he just kept going on about how we’re kids and he wasn’t going to tell us anything.

But back home, people were trying to kill us all the time. Never mattered that we were kids then.
And it shouldn’t matter that we’re kids now if no one else is gonna do anything.

[It’s not you, Shaw, he just doesn’t really trust anyone at this point.]
Well, that’s what I know. That whoever is doing this is using other people’s tablets, then changing their user ID to Unknown when they make the call.

[There’s a second of silence on the line, then he says:]
He’s just upset right now ‘cause his friend’s in the hospital.
[That isn’t the whole story but Shaw doesn’t need to know.]
I’m just trying to get him to chill for now.
no subject
no subject
[He does not like Tony, and it’s clear from his tone.]
no subject
He's a pain in the ass with you too, huh?
[She feels you, Leo.]
no subject
Which I’m personally fine with, because he’s like sixty years old and pretty pathetic.
[Every time he guesses at Tony’s age it goes up another decade.]
[Audio/Encrypted]
Hey, Leo?
no subject
no subject
no subject
...Okay... And how'd that go?
no subject
-I said I would stay out of sight though. They won't know I'm there. I just don't want her doing this by herself if...if they are...
no subject
[Muttered under his breath, just low enough Donnie might not catch it. Then, back to normal:]
Okay. I mean, they're probably just normal humans anyway, but... Yeah, sounds like a plan.
If I don't hear from you in an hour I'm coming.
no subject
I know. And I know Shaw can probably take them on her own if anything did happen but-
Yeah, okay.

You around somewhere
Can we meet up
no subject
well I cant leave the ship so im definitely "around"
did you have a place in mind?

Point taken
I dont know
I hadnt really made plans
[Which the lack of a plan most definitely spoke to 'not dangerous'.]
Somewhere quite I guess
Ive been avoiding crowds
no subject
we can meet in the cargo holds off the shuttle bay
not many people go down there
[It's where he and Donnie had their private New Tick party.]
no subject
I never really liked crowds to begin with
Yeah that can work
I wont have to go far then
[Keith had been staying away from people, too, and that meant going back to the Peanut Party when he was allowed to and wasn't hiding in the room the Agrii gave him.]
no subject
ill meet you there then
[And he'll be waiting outside the cargo holds, as he said.]
no subject
Hey. How you holdin' up?
no subject
Well, too late now.
His eyes look Keith up and down, and he winces.]
Uh, shouldn't I be asking you that?
no subject
Partially, he didn't want the people who set the trap to know he was this roughed up. That said, though, he shook his head in a typical attempt to wave it off.]

[Speaking of...]
That was actually a pretty awesome maneuver. Is that a special power or something? [AKA: the teleporting thing.]
no subject
No one wants to hear about Leo's middle child syndrome, though, so he won't bring it up.]
Oh, my teleporting? Yeah, that's my ninpo - uh, it's like, my family's special magic? Based on our love for each other and stuff.
[He says it like it's a little cheesy, but it actually means a lot to him.]
no subject
It's a handy thing to have. [Keith nodded.] My wolf can teleport like that, too. Though, without the lightning. His power manifests in a flash of light.
[But, having heard Donnie explain part of it and now Leo, Keith felt like this ninpō shared some traits with quintessence. Not identical, for sure, but he kind of felt like it had some similar qualities.]

no subject
With Tommy. Tommy likes to see if there's a distance far enough that he can't outrun Kosmo's teleport.
no subject
no subject
I'm sure he'd be willing to bet you can't.
[Was Keith stoking a bit of a rivalry? Maybe...]
no subject
no subject
Well, looks like we'll have something to do when we get back to the planet.
no subject
[Given the present state of the ship, he has a feeling they're going to be here awhile.]
no subject
Yeah... whenever...
[He shrugged.]
Either way, I'm glad you're alright... and I appreciate the help. It uh... It was definitely... A Thing.
[Keith didn't talk about his dad often, but considering he'd just been stuck in a situation very similar to the way his got killed on the job? It hit a nerve.]
no subject
Yeah... a thing.
[Leo's eyes dart to the door again, and even though they're alone, he lowers his voice.]
They haven't tried to bother you again, have they? Those ghost guys.
no subject
No. I haven't seen anyone wearing anything like that here.
[In a way, the ghost outfit had kind of reminded Keith of the Galra druids.]
What about you and Donnie? Any signs?
no subject
[Leo's tone grows dark.]
They know what will happen if they show their faces around us again.
no subject
[It had been hard to miss.]
Hopefully, this is the end of it, but... [Well, Keith wasn't convinced they'll stop. Stuff seemed to be escalating more and more, and he had a bad feeling that they weren't going to stop until someone actually died.] Yeah. I don't think it is.
no subject
[Leo huffs, folding his arms over his chest.]
Whatever. As long as they stay away from Donnie, I don’t care.
[This isn’t true, he’ll still care no matter what.]
no subject
[Keith hated the waiting, too, but he'd learned that, sometimes, it was a necessary step in accomplishing a goal.]
no subject
[Leo doesn't really care about that. He's not objecting to feeding those guys! He's just objecting to letting them do whatever they want.
And even if Keith is right about waiting for them to make a mistake, Leo still doesn't really feel satisfied with that. But he's had a hard enough time feeling believed, so he doesn't know what he could do or say that would change anyone's mind until they did finally get that proof.
Hopefully it would be soon.]
...Yeah. I guess. [He sighs.] You be careful, too.
no subject
My brother told me once that patience yields focus. I didn't get it then because patience was never one of my strong points, but... just... think about it. We'll get results. Some people just need more solid proof than others if we're going to get them to go along with it.
[But he nodded.]
Yeah. Thanks. I will. [Probably. Keith tended to be a risk taker... but he'd at least be more careful until he was healed up.
He started off back down the hall.]
Later...
[Audio] (what is time anymore)
no subject
[And to talk to Tae but he's not going to bring that up right this second.]
no subject
[Disappointed? Nooooo, but his social battery is definitely almost run out. He has no idea how Leo does it, honestly.]
no subject
Hang tight, I can get up there soon.
[He's pretty much wrapped up here anyway.]
no subject
...okay. I'll be in the hangar on the Agrii ship.
no subject
[It’s actually more like forty minutes, or however long the shuttle back to the Agrii ship takes, but he does make it there, waving a hand when he comes out of the shuttle and sees Donnie.]
Hey Dee!
no subject
Leo!
[He brightens as he turns away from the shuttle to wave back, jogging over.]
How're things going down below? Everyone playing nicely?
no subject
I mean, sorta? At least I don't think anyone's fighting, at least.
[It's a good sign!]
What's going on with the robots?
no subject
[He sighs, one less thing to worry about at least.]
I figured that they'd need an early-warning system for any remnant storms, so the Agrii will have time to take cover. And since power just turns off whenever they come into range, a regular signal system won't work. But if we can use the robots Robotnik left and set up a perimeter outside of the city, then if the signals go out from an approaching storm, that'll serve as the warning, and it can be relayed from the ship to the other Agrii in Temba.
no subject
[Not that he needs to tell Donnie that he's smart, because Donnie already knows.]
Well, let's go on a robot roundup then!
no subject
I'm glad they let me take one of these. We'd have to take multiple trips if it were the smaller shuttles, and it'd take forever just going one way!
no subject
[Until they can go on a real space adventure, might as well get their fun where they can!]
no subject
I doubt I can turn off the autopilot completely, but maybe I can get us semi-control so we can do stuff while we're locked onto a flight path at the very least.
no subject
Leo indeed looks excited, hopping into the chair and grinning like a kid in a candy store. Already he's gripping the controls and peering over all the buttons and dials.
(It's probably a very good thing that they can't turn off the autopilot.)]
Yes! Finally something cool to do on this stupid adventure!
no subject
That should do it. Just hit that button and we can launch!
no subject
[Leo raises his hand, but hovers over the button.]
You know, at a moment like this, historic as it is, I really feel that we should say a few words. A few words to really immortalize- oh who am I kidding, let's PUNCH IT!
[So saying he will hit that button!]
no subject
He cackles gleefully as the engines power up, cockpit dimming as the takeoff sequence engages, and soon the shuttle rises, taking off for the open port and out into the starry expanse, with Agra Ten hanging there below.]
no subject
[Space is really beautiful; even having seen it from the Agrii ship, Leo hasn't gotten used to it. Even more so because this is such a unique way of seeing it, flying through space in a shuttle like they're on their way to a real adventure.
He turns and thumbs up at Donnie's camera.]
Wish you were here! We're having a blast!
no subject
Going where no turtle has gone before!
[He leans closer to Leo to get them both in the shot before he sits back and focuses the camera back on Leo again.]
no subject
So how do I steer this thing? Do I just... whoa!
[He tilts the stick, and while they don't veer too far off the autopilot's course, they do swing a bit to the left.]
Sweet!
no subject
no subject
Alright, let's see... if I go down, then... yep!
[The nose tilted up! Nice, he's so got this.]
no subject
Donnie grins, settling in his seat and looking confident enough in his brother's skills... or at least in the fact that the ship can't accidentally fly far off course somewhere.]
no subject
[He's heard there's some kind of island or something? But he's curious.]
no subject
no subject
[He just be saying things.
For now he's going to enjoy that they can move around (somewhat) freely in space without hitting anything.]
no subject
Donnie quiets down a bit once they do actually get closer to the planet's surface.]
...you know, I don't think I've ever actually gotten to see us break through the atmosphere, going or coming.
[The ships they traveled on are so huge and distracting to be on in general. Getting a good view like this seems to be limited to whoever's flying. But it has to be different being in something that big versus the much smaller shuttles.]
no subject
[Leo quiets down too, looking out the window. All this time watching low budget space movies, but he's never seen anything like this. It's so cool, seeing it for real.]
I want to sit up at the front like this more often... Maybe I should get the pilot datapoint so no one can keep me out next time.
no subject
...I'd be careful about the data point swaps- but then you haven't done it as much, I think. I found out from the AI how they work, though, and basically the way they work is parts of the brain are stimulated to hold the information uploads, and then rewritten with the information from a different data point since most brains can't simultaneously hold two types. ...which is apparently something Ny Ak tried, and it's kind of messed him up.
Anyway, consistent swapping eventually degrades the ability to store that information.
no subject
So, what, if I do it too much it'll rot my brain?
[He realizes too late this is most definitely an opening for a joke at his expense.]
no subject
Ah, no worries there, I think.
And while we could still power through, it's not the same because there's a bump, so it's not going to be perfect.
no subject
But the broken down explanation makes sense. Leo nods along, then sighs, hunching his shoulders up for a moment before relaxing again.]
Fine, fine. I won't touch any more datapoints.
no subject
Probably good in the long-run. I've been trying to not swap back and forth anymore either. But...that just means I'll have to bother you to do codework.
no subject
[Leo sighs, very put-upon.]
I actually know what if/then statements and for loops are now... This is ruining my cool guy image.
no subject
I think you're the only one who equates uncoolness with knowing how to code.
no subject
If Mikey was here, he'd back me up.
no subject
And you'd still have to explain to him what kind of code you mean.
no subject
no subject
no subject
[He's going to focus on "driving"!]
no subject
no subject
Unfortunately he gets stopped by the autopilot.]
Ah man.
no subject
[Well, he supposes he isn't too surprised at that, although he was hoping for a little more freedom on their route. But maybe they're lucky to have even been able to do as much as they've found.]
no subject
[Ugh, what a bummer. But at least they got to fly a bit.]
How long till we get to the robots?
no subject
no subject
no subject
[He...supposes it isn't all that bad. With nothing he can do in the meantime, he lets himself melt further into the seat with a sigh. This is probably the first actual break he's let himself have in a while, now that he thinks about it.]
no subject
Unlike Donnie, Leo leans forward, still eager to watch as they fly high above the scenery of Agra-10. It's not as cool as being in space, but flying is still fun.]
no subject
He might accidentally nap with how quiet and peaceful it is, although while he's still awake he can't help but glance over to watch Leo for a bit, a weight easing from his chest as his brother looks like he's enjoying himself. It seems like it's been a long time in coming, and it leaves him with a faint smile on his face as he starts to doze.]
no subject
Eventually, though, the shuttle prepares for landing, and he reaches over and gives Donnie a light shake.]
Morning, sleepyhead.
no subject
[Blinking awake, Donnie rubs at his eyes before he tries pushing himself to sit straighter in his seat. He doesn't bother to cover his mouth as he yawns and stretches. Where even is... Oh, right.]
We there..?
no subject
no subject
-cool. At least we won't have to actively hunt them all down unless anyone's suddenly had a malfunction. Otherwise, they should come back to the lab once we hit the recall button.
Once we land, you wanna take the scenic route there or your way?
no subject
[Leo gets to his feet, stretching himself to get feeling back in his legs after sitting in the chair for so long.]
Come on, up and at 'em.
no subject
UUuuuuuugh.... fine.
no subject
